Passing through

Passing through captures a fleeting moment of everyday life in a rain soaked street scene. Three figures move independently through the shimmering streets, each absorbed in their own journey, the building however dissolve into soft vertical washes of colour and light.

Cool greys and blues create the atmosphere of rain, broken by vivid strokes of yellow, orange and red that suggests shopfronts, reflections of the warmth the shops offering shelter and time to waste a little time.

This piece is part of the Rainey series and explores those brief, almost anonymous encounters we experience in the city, people crossing our paths but only for a moment in time as they disappear back into the crowd.
